The Constitution

I have 30 years’ experience of Conservative politics in the South East and for the past 20 years I have run businesses in Europe. I believe that gives me a unique ability to stand up for the South East in the European Parliament.

I have a background in finance and investment, which will be invaluable in holding the Commission to account, exposing fraud and waste and ensuring that British taxpayers get value for the £12 billion we contribute to the EU budget each year.

I have worked with small business organisations and understand that “de-regulation” is not a political slogan, but vital if we are to create companies that can compete internationally.

I have been a local councillor and understand that decisions made in Brussels affect
the services that councils provide and the lives of the people they represent. Brussels is also an important source of funding for local councils and I have the skills to help individual councils and South East Local Partners access those sources.

I was a candidate in the 2004 European elections and since then have worked with our existing MEPs, gaining first-hand experience of the way the European Parliament works.

After the 2004 European elections, I set up BRUSSELSWATCH, an email newsletter covering the work of our MEPs and campaigning for a Conservative vision of Europe.

But most of all, I have worked with you, Conservative Party members, and I understand what you want from your MEPs: A strong voice for Britain in Brussels.
